Saugatuck, MI –Francesca Amari and Michael Holmes will be presenting A NEW CABARET SERIES AT The Red Barn this autumn featuring regional talent from West Michigan beginning Sunday, October 12 @ 7:00 PM with Kelly Carey. Carey, a Saugatuck favorite in Mason Street Warehouse productions and active supporter of The Red Barn will be starring in her new cabaret “She’s Gone Country” an acoustic tribute to county music with Nick Ayoub and friends on guitars. Featuring the music of: Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks and many more, this show is like nothing else that Kelly has done in the Saugatuck area! A foot-stompin', hand clappin', guitar strummin' good old fashioned hoot-n-nanny!
Sunday, October 26 brings Grand Rapids native and Mason Street alumnus Andrew Schneider in his original cabaret, “Sondheim + 1,” a tribute to the music of Stephen Sondheim. Created by Andrew Schneider and Charles Hutchins, this one hour emotional song cycle features some of Sondheim’s most famous pieces in addition to his earlier work as a lyricist. Andrew spends the evening dazzling with rich vocals combined with some of the most brilliant pieces ever written for Musical Theatre.
Following Andrew we have the brilliant acoustic musical group “The Weatherheads” in their first appearance at The Red Barn Sunday, November 9 @ 7:00 PM. Barb and Pete Weatherhead lead this group in Americana music, influenced by the works of Gillian Welch, Tom Petty, Allison Krause, Steve Earle, Patti Griffin and others. The Weatherheads will warm you with stories, charm and simply crafted music and songs. Their original music and carefully chosen cover tunes will enchant you and keep you listening and learning through the evening, choosing songs from off the beaten path by both mainstream and not-so mainstream artists. With Pete on guitar and harmonica and Barb on bass, they sing and play together with harmonies and rhythms that intertwine and mesh almost indistinguishably. But this isn't just any old ‘folk group’. It's upbeat, it's energetic and it's contagious!
Mark Kahny returns to The Red Barn stage Sunday, November 23 @ 7:00 PM with his tribute to Tin Pan Alley and Ragtime Music; “Tin Pans & Rags.” Kahny is one of Michigan’s most in demand pianists.
